কিপ্টে আর বোকাসোকা চেহারার একেনবাবু যে গোয়েন্দা এটা ভাবাই মুশকিল। একটু ন্যালা ক্যাবলা টাইপের ভদ্রলোক। সেই তিনি আবার কলকাতা পুলিশ থেকে অ্যামেরিকায় ট্রেইনিং নিতে গিয়ে ওখানেও গোয়েন্দাগিরি করে টু-পাইস কামান। একেনবাবু থাকেন বাপি এবং প্রমথর সঙ্গে। বাপি নিউইয়র্ক ইউনিভার্সিটিতে পড়ান, প্রমথ পিএইচ.ডি করছেন। যোগ্য ব্যাচেলর কিন্তু বিয়ে করার জন্য কোনো চাড় নেই। বাপিবাবু লিখে রাখেন একেনবাবুর কীর্তিকলাপ। একেনবাবু বিবাহিত কিন্তু ‘পরিবার’ কলকাতায় থাকেন। কবে কলকাতা থেকে অ্যামেরিকা নিয়ে আসবেন-এই প্রশ্নের উত্তরে একেনবাবু ভদ্রলোকের এক কথার মত বলেন-নেক্সট্ ইয়ার। যদিও সেই নেক্সট্ ইয়ার করে আসবে-ভগা ন জানত্তি। যাই হোক-একেনবাবু সকলকেই স্যার বা ম্যাডাম বলেন আর আপনি ছাড়া কথা বলেন না। অবশ্য বিবাহিতা স্ত্রীকে কি বলে সম্বোধন করেন, সেটা কেউ জানেন না। ও।একটা কথা বলা হয়নি-একেনগিন্নি উবাচ, একেনবাবু ঘোড়ার ডিমের রিসার্চ করেন। একেনবাবুর পাঁচটি গোয়েন্দা গল্প সমগ্র একসাথে।
