In 1964, the sacred relic of Hazratbal was stolen, resulting in significant damage even after its return. Violent unrest reignited in East Pakistan. The security forces and leaders in West Pakistan were intent on driving away the minority Hindus from their land.Sudhamoyi’s family from Jugiganj was compelled to leave everything behind. Then what happened? People started streaming in droves towards the India border. Sudhamoyi, Prabhas, and their friends’ families found refuge in the abandoned Cooper’s Camp. The narrative then transitions to pivotal historical events such as Nehru’s demise, the successive Indo-Pak conflicts, and the birth of Bangladesh. Amidst these tumultuous times, new settlements, aspirations, and ways of life emerge, shaping the undocumented history of Bengalis.
